Legacies: June's Story

I lost my first child, June Alice Jones on August 23, 2018. She was born still. We don't know what happened to my beautiful baby girl. I was expecting a beautiful delivery; I was term and headed to the hospital in early labor. When we got there she had no heartbeat. The best day of my life quickly shifted to the worst day of my life. The following eight months were the most tragic and earth shattering of my entire life.

When I left the hospital I was given a large bouquet of flowers to hold in my arms to comfort me. As my arms ached for my daughter, I was comforted by the beauty in the flowers and the relief of something to hold. I left the hospital with flowers in my arms and the spirit of my child in my heart and mind forever.

We launched June’s Bouquets in March 2019 on the Labor & Delivery Unit at Women's Hospital in Greensboro (the unit where I work and where June was born). Though we started local, our mission is to come alongside mothers of stillborn babies in labor and delivery units all across the United States—delivering bouquets and a note sharing June’s story to remind them they aren’t alone

It’s my vision and prayer that these flowers will provide comfort to grieving mothers who have just had their lives turned upside down.
